Triathlon des Corsaires 2026: your base camp in the Basque Country

The Triathlon des Corsaires 2026 takes place on Saturday 26 September in Socoa and Ciboure, in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. This event on the Nouvelle-Aquitaine triathlon calendar brings together close to 1,000 triathletes every year, from across the greater South West of France and northern Spain, on an exceptional course between ocean and mountains.

A swim at the foot of the Fort de Socoa, road cycling along the route de la Corniche, running beside the bay: the Pyrénées-Atlantiques offer one of the finest settings in French sport here. A twenty minute drive from the site, Hôtel & Spa INDARRA, in Arbonne, turns this race into a genuine Basque stay.

Programme, date and race formats

Born within the Urkirolak club in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the organisation is today led by Aviron Bayonnais Triathlon. This edition runs over a full day, on closed and secured roads, with several starts following one another: the youth races for the 6-9 and 10-13 age groups, the XS format known as the Triathlon des Moussaillons, a real invitation to discover the discipline, the S format Triathlon des Flibustiers and the M olympic triathlon, the most demanding of all. The XS and S formats can be entered individually or as a relay.

For detailed distances, start times, registration conditions and results from recent editions, consult the organiser's website.

What sets this race apart? Its setting. The swim starts from the plage de Socoa, sheltered from the waves by the breakwaters, in water whose colour alone is enough to slow down the warm ups.

The bike ride then follows the famous route de la Corniche linking Socoa to Hendaye, a succession of climbs and descents without a single flat section, to be repeated in loops depending on the format chosen.

The run finally traces the bay as far as the port of Ciboure, with a finish on the chemin des Blocs. A sequence beside the sea that competitors regularly rank among the most beautiful landscapes on the calendar.

A triathlon does not stop at the finish line. Our 90 m² wellness space brings together a sauna, a hammam and two treatment rooms, including a double one, with treatments from the Biarritz brand Alaena. The INDARRA signature massage adjusts to what you ask for, sporting, relaxing or energising, to loosen legs marked by the Corniche.

The 20 meters heated outdoor pool, accessible until 4 November, lends itself as much to a few easy lengths as to a quiet end of day. A fitness room and a yoga room open to nature complete the picture.
